Exploring Niagara

Hans and Allyson Tammemagi are long time residents of St. Catharine's, Ontario; a small village located just across the Niagara River. Though they have traveled around the world, they both have a special place in their hearts for Buffalo, their favorite spot.

Hans has always had a secret, compulsive desire to write. Some say it's genetic, because his grandfather was a writer!! At age 50, he wrote his first book, Winning Proposals, How to Write Them and Get Results. It sold over 12,000 copies and was translated into Spanish. For his second book, he brought his wife Allyson, as well as the creative services of Western New York Wares into the mix. The result: Exploring Niagara, The Complete Guide to Niagara Falls and Vicinity. Hans says writing this book was "more like playing than working," considering he and his wife's great interest in the Niagara Falls region. They especially love Niagara's beautiful scenery. They both cite the Niagara Escarpment as just one example of the region's stunning surroundings. Among their other favorite places to visit are the Erie Canal and the area's many wineries. However, both Hans and Allyson note that "in order to get a more compelling feel for the area, you have to read Exploring Niagara which explains it all in so much more detail!!"

Hans has a B.Sc., M.Sc. from the University of Toronto; and a Ph.D. in geophysics from the Australian National University. He is an environmentalist, free-lance writer and adjunct professor at Brock University. He is currently working on a third book. Allyson is a registered nurse.
